We are always looking for Full-Time and Part-Time people:

Our hiring process:

  • First, we review your resume and cover letter. Alternatively, you can apply at https://www.indeed.com/.
  • Then, we will get back to you.
  • Then, we send you our screening questions. We can tell you right now that we must check and prove the accuracy of these three things, since we are a manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, you must:
    – Never been convicted of a felony
    – Be a US citizen, or legally authorized to work in the USA
    – Never been convicted of an alcohol-related violation in the past.
    – Then, we will talk to you about open positions, locations, and availability
  • Then, we schedule an interview or two
  • Then, we make hiring decisions based on all the information.

Internships:

At Whitebarrel, we have several internship opportunities for undergraduates and graduate students. Internships are a serious matter at Whitebarrel, and you will be fully integrated into our team following our internship programs. If you are interested in an internship, we do take 1-2 interns three times per year.

Internship schedules each year, we offer three internship schedules each year.

  • Winter/Spring Internships: 3nd Monday of January through the 3rd Friday in May (16-17 weeks)
  • Summer/Fall Internships: 2nd Monday in June through the 2nd Friday in October (16-17 weeks)
  • Fall/Winter Internships:1st Monday in September through the 3rd Friday in December (16-17 Weeks)

We realize that some of these internship requirements are beyond those required for Virginia Tech, Radford, James Madison University, and North Carolina State, and University of North Carolina programs. But, this internship program will take your through the entire Winery business operations.

How it works:

You must be able to work at the internship uninterrupted for a minimum of 40 hours per week each week of the internship program. We do not accommodate for university breaks, vacations, or holidays.
You will be interviewing with at least two members of our team.
We do pay $5.00 per hour plus tips (when you are working in the Tasting Room or Wine Bar) and we guarantee that you make at least minimum wage throughout the entire internship.
You can also receive college credit if your University allows (per their policies).
For your actual internship, you will be working in each of the areas of the winery and you will be exposed to all the operations of the winery.

This will last for the total 16-17 weeks.
– Vineyard and wine making – 3-4 weeks
– Tasting room – 3-4 weeks
– Events and marketing – 2-3 weeks
– Distribution and B2B sales – 2-3 weeks
– Business operations, business development and marketing – 2-3 weeks

Lastly, we do require a special project that is beyond your rotations through the business. We have several project ideas if you need assistance with ideas. All projects must be approved by both us (and your school if you are seeking credit).
In addition, you will:

– Submit weekly reports on progress of work and special project (we use 15Five)
– Work a defined schedule each week, reporting to your area supervisor (we use WhenIwork)
– Log each hour worked in the business (we use Square)
– Submit a final report (written) (to be determined jointly).
– Present the report to the company staff at a time date designated at the end of the internship

At least two different ideas for a special project. Your project must be hypothesis-driven, and you must be able to develop it so that we can use metrics to evaluate the success of your project.
Then, we send you our screening questions. We can tell you right now that we must check and prove the accuracy of these three things, since we are a manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, you must:
– Never been convicted of a felony
– Be a US citizen, or legally authorized to work in the USA
– Never been convicted of an alcohol-related violation in the past.

Other requirements:
– Have reliable transportation to/from the winery
– Provide a statement to us that you can work on the internship uninterrupted for a minimum of 40 hours per week. We do not accommodate for university breaks.
– Ability for an interview.

Application Deadlines:

  • For Winter/Spring Internships, which run: 3nd Monday of January through the 3rd Friday in May (16-17 weeks). The deadline is 1 November of each year.
  • For Summer/Fall Internships, which run: 2nd Monday in June through the 2nd Friday in October (16-17 weeks). The deadline is 1 April of each year.
  • For Fall/Winter Internships, which run: 1st Monday in September through the 3rd Friday in December (16-17 Weeks). The deadline is 1 July of each year.
